Penny Marshall wins ICE award

Penny Marshall was presented with the Garth Watson Medal for her service to civil engineering at the 2021 ICE Awards.

Penny has worked tirelessly across Yorkshire and Humber and the North East to inspire the next generation of civil engineers, acting as a mentor for promoting civil engineering as a career to women and girls. From 1974 to 1978 she was the only female undergraduate on her civil engineering course at Newcastle University and has dedicated herself to raising the profile of civil engineering and improving access for females in civil engineering.
