Shape fire safety standards: CABE seeks member feedback on BS 9990 draft

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has published a draft of BS 9990:2015 – Non-automatic firefighting systems in buildings – Code of practice for public consultation and CABE would like its members to help inform its response.

The draft provides guidance on the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of non-automatic firefighting systems, including wet and dry fire mains, reflecting current good practice in building fire safety.

Members wishing to contribute to CABE's formal response should email [email protected] by 27 March 2026. Submissions should include 'BS 9990' in the subject line, reference the specific clause or sub-clause being addressed, and offer recommendations for how any issues could be resolved.

The draft standard is available via the BSI Standards Development Portal, although registration is required to access the document and submit comments.
