The Association turned 100 years old on 12 September, marked with a garden party at Stanbrook Abbey, Worcester.

A centenary year thank you
CABE would like to offer heartfelt thanks for the dedication and support from all our members and those who have collaborated with us for the greater good of the built environment over the past 100 years.

Richard Harral, CABE CEO, said: “While there is much about our industry that CABE’s founding members would still recognise today, the coming decades are likely to see unprecedented change as new technologies transform the way we work, and as we adapt to the challenge of climate change while ensuring equity and safety in the built environment.

“CABE is well placed to respond to such challenges, and I hope that in 100 years’ time our successors will be able to look back with the same pride in our Association that we have today.”

Digital library
The CABE Digital Archive has now launched, free and accessible to all CABE Members. Currently hosting digital copies of most of the Association's technical journal from its inception as The Parthenon in 1926 to its current iteration as Building Engineer, the archive will be developed over time to include all key Association publications where possible. Access the Digital Archive here.

HQ to HK
HQ staff have been fundraising since January for Shelter and Cork University Hospital by walking the equivalent distance from Lutyens House in Northampton to our Hong Kong office in Kowloon. We achieved our target of (more than) 6,000 miles by the end of August and raised just over £300 – thanks to all who donated.

Building Engineer
The journal’s centenary series explored selected issues of the journal from January 2015 to the first edition in October 1926. The articles covered what was happening in the industry at the time and CABE’s role.

CABE animations
The Association has commissioned two new animations for 2025. Watch ‘Who We Are’ at cbuilde.com/who_we_are and ‘Membership Journey’ at cbuilde.com/why_join
