Academic Partnerships

John Barfoot, Learning, Education and Academic Director at CABE, extolls the virtues of academic partnerships.

CABE partners with a host of academic institutions around the world with the goal of driving the built environment forward with uncompromising and meticulous standards. The future of the industry relies on well-trained professionals, and – since joining CABE 12 months ago – I have been keen to develop CABE’s relationships with Academic Partners and establish new links.

One of its newest partnerships is with qualification-awarding body Pearson, and CABE is proud to welcome them as an Academic Partner. This new partnership aims to support construction education by providing CABE accreditation to relevant BTEC National and BTEC Higher National qualifications developed by Pearson.

Becoming a CABE Academic Partner is recognition that the Pearson qualifications adhere to the highest quality learning standards and are designed to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a career within the built environment. Building upon the academic partnership, CABE has formally accredited the following construction qualifications developed by Pearson:       

  • Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma and Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment     
  • Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Construction at Levels 4 and 5, and     
  • Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Construction and the Built Environment at Levels 4 and 5.  

These qualifications are offered by a range of UK-based and international educational institutions approved by Pearson. Students who complete these Pearson qualifications will be recognised as meeting aspects of the CABE Membership Competency Frameworks, which allows students to take the first steps towards Chartered Membership.

The Pearson qualification model has strong synergy with CABE’s membership, and we look forward to working with the team at Pearson to create a global partnership and accreditation for a host of built environment qualifications.
