Engineers Without Borders
Engineers Without Borders UK is proud to announce the appointment of Georgia Elliott-Smith as its incoming Chair. She is a distinguished environmental engineer and sustainability leader, who brings more than two decades of experience. She holds a BEng in Environmental Engineering and is a founding member of the environmental non-profit Fighting Dirty, alongside journalist George Monbiot. Her vision as Chair is to bridge the persistent gap between engineering education and professional practice.
She says: “Young people are passionate about the environment and making the world a better place, but that enthusiasm is often stifled once they enter the workplace.
“To find lasting solutions to challenges like climate change and social injustice, we must ensure responsible engineering practices are integrated from education through to employment.”

NHBC
The National House Building Council (NHBC) has appointed Cassandra Codling as Senior Regional Director. She will be responsible for managing the regional director team and driving NHBC’s core purpose of building confidence in the construction quality of new homes.
Codling joined NHBC in 2007 as a Building Inspector, before progressing to Inspection Manager and then Regional Director for the south-east. She says: “With the government’s ambitious housebuilding targets for this parliament, I believe we must focus on delivering quality homes and strong communities, not just houses. I plan to help support growth and encourage a more diverse mix of people to enter the industry.”
