The green recovery

Billed as a long-term, post-Covid-19 solution for the construction industry that can save jobs and save the planet, but what does it actually mean? Asks James Cash.

The government’s pledge to build, build, build twinned with commitments to reduce carbon emissions and safeguard wildlife habitats can only go so far to achieve the goals of supporting the economy while mitigating climate change and its effects. These goals are dependent upon the flow of knowledge and skills and deep collaboration between building engineers, suppliers and all specialists working in the built environment.
