Therme Group recognised that to excel in the wellbeing resort sector it was key to address sustainability and energy efficiency.
Therme Bucharest is the world’s first fully sustainable thermal spa resort. It runs on sustainability principles and has achieved the first LEED Platinum rating for new construction in Romania. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system developed by the US Green Building Council that recognises best-in-class green building strategies and practices (the Platinum rating is equivalent to BREEAM Outstanding in the UK). Therme Group is part of the A-Heat Group, an engineering group for the heat exchanger technology sector. This technical approach followed through to the design and construction of the entire facility, with some solutions supplied by its sister companies.
