An open book

Work is underway on the £14m transformation of Sheffield Hallam University’s central atrium, the first project to be delivered under the Hallam Alliance, a new procurement and building model.

The Hallam Alliance is a partnership of Sheffield Hallam University, BDP/Arup, BAM and CBRE working together under the new NEC4 Alliance contract. “This new type of contract means the clients, designers, construction contractors and FM providers all have the same objectives, with benefits such as a transparent open-book costs approach and improved risk management,” says Paul Cleminson, Construction Director at BAM.
