The National House Building Council has opened its first of 12 new apprenticeship training hubs being rolled out as part of a £100m UK-wide programme to help tackle the construc-tion skills crisis and support the delivery of 1.5 million new homes this parliament.

The launch came as the UK construction sector is forecast to need 239,300 additional work-ers by 2029, highlighting the scale of the workforce challenge facing the industry.

Together the hubs will train up to 3,000 apprentices a year in real-site conditions, helping to address the growing demand for skilled trades across the housebuilding sector.
