Building services annoucement

BT has announced that there will be no new connections to Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or ISDN lines. From December 2025, this technology will begin to decommission. This will affect anything that currently plugs into an existing analogue telephone wall socket, for example:
- alarm lines
- ATMs
- door entry systems
- payment card machines; and
- CCTV.
Any equipment connected to PSTN and ISDN lines will need to be compatible with IP for it to continue working after 2025. Anyone who supplies these products and services may need to carry out testing to make sure they continue to work on an IP network.
