The City of London Corporation has approved a £191m funding package to support critical repairs and upgrades at the Barbican Centre.

This is around 80% of the funds needed to fund phase one of the Barbican Renewal Programme. Phase one, undertaken by Buro Happold, will focus on repairing and conserving the Grade II listed structure, improving accessibility, enhancing energy efficiency and future-proofing the infrastructure.

The five-year project of works to secure the future of the site includes the Salisbury Square Development, which will house the new City of London Police HQ and multi-courts complex, and the new London Museum at West Smithfield.
