Hedgehog highways and bird-safe glass may become requirements for all new buildings under amendments tabled by members of the House of Lords for the government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill.

A cross-bench group of peers has pushed to ensure new buildings have wild animal-friendly design and architecture, including hedgehog highways and bird nesting boxes.
