Insurer QBE surveyed 362 UK construction workers about their mental health at work. The results indicate that even with the increased risk of injury due to poor mental health, they are likely to continue to work.

Recent government research shows mental health costs the UK construction industry at least £1.2bn per annum, with 1.7 days lost per worker and 5.1 million lost working days last year.

More than a quarter of construction workers report that they felt uncomfortable discussing mental health with their employer, and a third said their employer had not checked in with them regarding their mental health.
