The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has published a Remediation Acceleration Plan to tackle the building safety crisis following the Grenfell Tower fire.

It sets out how the government will fix buildings faster, identify remaining buildings still at risk and ensure that residents are supported through the remediation process. It aims to, by the end of 2029, remediate all high-rise buildings over 18m with unsafe cladding in a government-funded scheme. It is also aiming for every building over 11m with unsafe cladding to have either been remediated or have a date for completion – or those responsible will be liable for severe penalties.
