Move to make swift bricks mandatory
Cross-party MPs in parliament are backing a move to make swift bricks mandatory in new build homes.
It is proposed as an amendment to the Levelling-Up Bill so that developers are required to include a hollow brick for nesting birds in all new housing.
Writer Hannah Bourne-Taylor, who petitioned parliament, said: “This is the perfect policy. It exists, it’s proven to work and there are no real cost implications. This is arguably the most simple and cost-effective environmental and biodiversity measure in existence.”
