Products regulation now in operation

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR 2024) is now in operation. It updates the existing EU rules in this area, providing an opportunity to adapt standardisation to new technical developments, providing better information to consumers with the creation of product digital passports and facilitating green choices.

It aims to harmonise EU rules for marketing of construction products, facilitate their free movement in the single market, reduce administrative burdens and promote the circular economy and technological development in the sector.

It also facilitates the adoption of new standards and empowers the commission to adopt common specifications under certain conditions, when the usual standardisation route is blocked.
