BSR chair calls for greater regulation

The Building Safety Regulator’s (BSR) Chair Andy Roe has called for registration and the greater regulation of subcontractors.

Giving evidence at the House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee’s inquiry into issues at the BSR in October, Roe said that the lack of mandatory registration for subcontractors in the construction industry poses a danger.

He said: “I would argue there is a real need to not just regulate building control professions but [also] the other engineering professions and other critical roles inside construction.”
