Standalone BSR, and a call for evidence
The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has officially moved to a standalone organisation, paving the way for creation of a single construction regulator – a key recommendation of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
Lord Roe, Chair of BSR, said: “While the creation of BSR in 2021 was a watershed moment, this is about looking forward to a single construction regulator that brings coherence to a once-fragmented system. This move is about continuing to support homes being built safely while fulfilling our primary mission: ensuring we are all building better and living safer, together.”
Meanwhile, the Scottish government’s Call for Evidence – Fire Safety Review and Compliance has now been published.
As a key commitment in its response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s final report, the Scottish government has launched a Call for Evidence to review Section 2 (Fire) of the Building Standards. The evidence will shape the scope, priorities and actions needed to improve fire safety across all building types. You can learn more and respond at the link below.
Finally, the Landscape Institute is inviting attendees from across the built and natural environment to the National Housing and Regeneration Conference, taking place at Cardiff University on 26 March.
With a keynote speech from James Hooker, Head of Planning Policy at the Welsh government, the conference will bring together industry experts and regional voices from across the built and natural environment.
