The CABE Gold Service Award is presented to members who have supported and advanced the Association through their ideas and values

This year, the CABE Awards Panel presents the Gold Service Award to George Paton and Michelle Tuxford for their dedication to the Association and desire to help its members.

George Paton
FCABE Chartered Building Engineer

George (pictured above) graduated from Glasgow College of Building in 1974 with a Higher National Diploma in Building and then completed a construction management course at Glasgow College of Technology. He joined Contemplor Surveying and Building Engineering Services in Strathaven in 1999 as a principal engineer.

During his career he has provided a wide range of building engineering services, but has particularly excelled in providing guidance on debt resolution and avoidance to private and corporate clients. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, George fulfils the role of expert witness and works tirelessly for his clients to achieve the best resolution.

George joined the CABE Membership and Professional Standard Committee (MPSC) in 2019, playing a crucial part in developing what has become a very hard-working committee of volunteers. The MPSC ensures the governance of the Association and maintains the professional standards of members.

George never shies away from a problem, and his honesty and integrity have served George well in his work with the MPSC. He is an extremely deserving winner of the CABE Gold Service Award.

Michelle Tuxford
FCABE Chartered Building Engineer

Michelle Tuxford (pictured above) has been a Director at Taylor Tuxford Associates since its formation in 2009 and has a long history of providing architectural and building engineering services for commercial and residential clients. As an architectural technologist, Michelle won a LABC Yorkshire and Humber Built in Quality Award for architectural design in the domestic extension category in 2008 and was a runner-up
in both 2017 and 2018.

Having joined the Association in 2009, it wasn’t long before she became involved with the CABE Yorkshire and Humber Regional Committee. She became Regional Secretary in 2012 and served in the role until early 2021. Throughout her time on the committee, she has performed continuously and with great distinction duties such as helping to organise CPD events and committee meetings.

In her spare time, Michelle is National Secretary of the Conway Owner’s Club, for owners of Conway trailer tents, and is an active member of Blu Crew, a not-for-profit entertainments group raising funds for charities.

Michelle’s commitment to CABE has not gone unnoticed, and this award acknowledges the service she has provided for members in CABE’s largest region.
