New CEO for Engineers Without Borders UK

John Kraus has joined Engineers Without Borders UK as CEO, leaving the International Geosynthetics Society, where he was Executive Director.

John was formerly Head of Sustainable Urbanisation at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, where he set up the World Built Environment Forum. John also spent 18 years at the Foreign and Commonwealth offi ce; with roles including Chief of Staff for Climate Change and Head of the UN Human Rights Team, he drove initiatives to help embed climate debate in broader foreign policy thinking. John said: “I have spent much of my career trying to bring sustainability into wider, structural conversations. We stand at a crossroads where the planetary boundaries are being tested as never before. Our response must be nothing short of a sustainability revolution.”
