Building a Safer Future Charter – CABE Becomes a Registered Signatory
Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is pleased to become a Registered Signatory of the Building a Safer Future Charter. CABE recognises that becoming a Registered Signatory is an important first step towards achieving the culture and behavioural change required in relation to the Charter’s objectives around building safety. In confirming our support as a Registered Signatory, we will now be working to ensure that we embed the principles of the Charter into our Association’s activities.
The Building a Safer Future Charter is an industry commitment to ensure that people’s safety is put first before any other building priority*. As a signatory of the charter, CABE agrees to instill the five commitments within the Association and to promote them to the wider CABE community, these include:
- collaboration and being a voice of building safety across the construction sector.
- ensuring that building safety is key in decisions without compromising quality or value for money.
- ensuring that every stakeholder understands their role with regards to safety and clearly communicates their responsibilities in order to maintain a building safely.
CABE will also be encouraging members, and partners, to support the Building Safety Charter. Jayne Hall, President of CABE commented, “CABE members specialise in professional roles that cover the life-cycle of a building; they understand the importance of collaboration and the value in sharing information across disciplines in order to create a safer industry for all. We are delighted to sign up to this charter to reinforce our commitment to helping improve the safety of the industry, to ensure all buildings meet the safety needs of individuals now and in the future,”.
