Fire Safety Levelling Up Committee inquiry grills safety review authors

Last week, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee held an evidence session as part of its ongoing work on fire and building safety. Co-authors of the Independent Review of the Construction Products Testing Regime, Paul Morrell OBE (formerly the Government’s Chief Construction Adviser) and Anneliese Day KC were both questioned.

The Review was commissioned by the Government partly in response to the Grenfell Tower fire.

The Committee grilled the witnesses on the findings of their Independent Review and on the delay with Government issuing its response to the review.

The Committee also examined the scope of the regulatory regime, construction product standards, and the testing regime itself.

A full report of the session will appear in the January issue of Building Engineer, which is a CABE member benefit. If you're not a member of CABE, you can apply here.
