Public Registers of Building Inspectors now available

The public can now find details of a building inspector listed on the register of building inspectors (RBI) for England and Wales.

The register shows:

• building inspector name
• registration number
• employer’s or business name and address
• registration class
• categories of buildings the inspector is registered to work on
• start and end date of registration
• details of any conditions of registration.

Any changes relevant to a registration, such as contact details, criminal or professional body sanctions, or if an inspector is declared bankrupt, must be notified to the BSR within 28 days by calling 0300 790 6787. The Code of Conduct is available here.

Experienced building inspectors in England can complete their competency assessment and upgrade their registration until 6 July 2024 (full details here). The RBI registers will not show when inspectors’ registration is temporarily extended during the competency assessment extension period.
